Student Essay Competition

Rules and Regulations
Eligibility:
Student must be enrolled in Middle or High
School. To enter this competition, students must write an essay
that answers one of three questions about Breast Cancer.
- What are Breast Cancer and
the importance of early detection?
- How has Breast Cancer affected the community and/or you
personally?
- Write in your
own words what you would do to decrease the number of Breast
Cancer cases diagnosed in the United States.
Application:
- Applications are available at the participating school.
- Applications must be forwarded to the Committee, along with an
electronic copy of the essay on or before the submission
deadline date (see application).
Essay:
- All essays must be original (in the author’s own
words).
- The body of all essays will be a minimum of three
(3) pages with a maximum of eight (8) pages (not including
title page, abstract, reference page, or appendices).
- The essay must follow essay guidelines.
- The body/running head of the essay must contain no
evidence of the author’s identity.
- Manuscript rights will remain with the author.
The Pink Party may publish any and all essay entries in The
Pink Party guide, advertisement material and/or on the
website.
Judging:
A minimum of 3 judges will rate each submission.
- Judges may not rate essays from students of their own programs.
- The judges shall meet all the following criteria:
Familiar
with the subject matter to be judged
Current or past Teacher
or Professor
- Rating will be done using the Essay Competition Grading Sheet
provided
- The judges’ decisions are final.
Awards consist
of three levels:
Additionally, all winners will be featured
on the Pink Party website; receive 4 free tickets for the entire
weekend, a Plaque, meet and greet with the celebrities; and,
will be interviewed on Sweet addictions T.V.
